You have the piece finished. The file is sitting on your desktop, named something like final_v7_REAL.png, and the only thing between it and a collector is a few minutes of clicking.
This is the whole walkthrough: what to prepare before you start, how the mint flow works on XRPL Home, what a royalty actually does, and what happens once you see Mint Complete. If this is your first mint, read it top to bottom once. After that you will not need it again.
🖼️ Get your art ready first
Minting takes minutes. The preparation is what separates a piece that reads as considered from one that reads as rushed.
- File format. JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP, typically under 10MB. Export at the highest quality that fits.
- Resolution and shape. Clean, high-resolution files hold up when someone opens them full screen. Square-ish formats display best in grids and previews.
- Final version only. Once it is minted it is permanent. There is no swapping the image afterwards.
- Words ready. Have your title, artist name, description, and any traits written before you open the flow. How to write NFT descriptions covers that part.
- Rights. Make sure the art is yours, or that you hold the rights to mint and sell it. You will be asked to confirm this on the record.
🔐 Set up your XRPL wallet
You mint from a wallet, so that comes first. Most artists on the XRP Ledger use Xaman, free on iOS and Android.
- Download it and create your account.
- Write your secret keys down offline and never share them with anyone. Not a support account, not a collector, not a verification bot.
- Fund it with a small amount of XRP to cover the ledger reserve and transaction fees. Fees on XRPL are fractions of a cent; the reserve is the larger part, and it stays yours.
Read every signing request in your wallet before you approve it. A legitimate mint asks you to sign a mint transaction, nothing more. If a request does not match what you just clicked, reject it.
⚡ Mint an NFT on XRPL, step by step
Here is the flow on XRPL Home from start to finish. Every stage has Advanced Options if you want finer control, but the defaults are built for artists who would rather be making work than configuring it.
- Connect your wallet
Connect an XRPL wallet such as Xaman to XRPL Home before you begin. Approve the connection request in the wallet and wait for it to sync.
- Start the mint
Click Mint in the nav, or Start Creating on the Home page, then choose Digital Art. Physical work has its own path, with a Reveal Mint™ and a Living COA™ attached to it.
- Choose its home
Select the collection this piece belongs to, or create a new one. XRPL Home manages the issuer and taxon underneath, so you are choosing a name and a story rather than memorising a number. Confirm, then Continue.
- Upload your artwork
Upload your JPG, PNG, GIF, or WebP, typically under 10MB. A Needs Attention banner stays on screen until the art is uploaded and ownership confirmed. Tick “I created and own this artwork (or have rights to mint and sell it).” Under Upload Details, choose Human-Created, AI-Assisted, or AI-Generated. Collectors read that as provenance, so answer it honestly. Your file is stored permanently through XRPL Home’s IPFS pipeline.
- Tell its story
Add the Name, your Artist Name, and the Description. Traits are optional: enter a Trait Name and a Trait Value, then Add Trait. Traits are how collectors filter and compare pieces later, so keep the naming consistent across a series.
- Review and mint
Confirm the artwork, the story, and the rights. Set your creator Royalty (0–50%). Click Mint NFT, then approve the signing request in your wallet, either opening it in the browser or scanning the QR. A few seconds later you will see Mint Complete on screen.
That is the whole thing. Settlement on the XRP Ledger takes roughly three to five seconds, fees are fractions of a cent, and there are no gas wars to time your drop around.
💰 Setting your XRPL NFT royalties
Your royalty is the percentage you receive on eligible secondary sales. XRPL Home lets you set anywhere from 0 to 50%. Most artists land between 5 and 10%.
Set it low and collectors trade your work freely. Set it high and pieces can sit. The royalty is carried by the token itself, so it follows your work across XRPL-compatible marketplaces, not only the place it was minted. Decide before you mint, because it is not a setting you adjust later.
A royalty is not a toll. It is the thread that keeps you connected to the piece after it leaves your hands.
📁 One-of-ones and collections
A standalone 1/1 is its own thing: a special drop, a commission, a piece that does not belong to a series. A collection ties several works together under one theme and one home, which is what makes them browsable as a set.
Either way you use the same flow. The difference is what you pick at Choose its home. If you are planning more than one piece, read setting up collections on the XRPL before your first mint. Starting organised is far easier than reorganising later.
🌱 After Mint Complete
Minting puts the work on-chain. Being found is the next part.
- Check that it landed. Your piece appears in your Vault, alongside your wallet and rewards, and across Explore, which indexes art from the whole XRP Ledger. Mint anywhere, create anywhere, find it Home.
- List it, if you want to. Listing is optional and separate from minting. Plenty of artists mint an archive first and price it later.
- Share it with people, not at them. Post the piece, tag the XRPL art community, and talk about the work rather than the price. Promoting your art without burning out covers the pacing.
Make your first mint a small one. Not a throwaway, just something you are happy to keep, so that your big drop is not also the first time you see the flow.
A piece marked 🔋 by $DOOD™ comes from an artist in the CommUnity, creators who give back through burns, rewards, and collabs that strengthen the whole XRPL art scene. If that is your work too, say so in your description. You can find them at the CommUnity.
Welcome to the XRP Ledger. Your art has a permanent address now, and a home to be found in.
