Instalustraitor is one of those artists. Every piece begins with a question, grows through curiosity, and ends with something that invites the viewer to think, feel, or create something of their own. For him, that is what art is supposed to do.

Rooted in tradition, drawn to the future

Instalustraitor is an illustrator, creative director, and visual storyteller from Indonesia. He grew up in an urban environment, but the values that shaped him came from his family's Javanese traditions.

Patience. Craftsmanship. Discipline. Respect for making something by hand. Those values became the foundation of his work.

At the same time, he found himself pulled toward comics, street art, album covers, collectible toys, and contemporary illustration. The result is a style that blends tradition with modern culture.

Becoming an artist

Design school helped shape his career. It did not make him an artist.

"Design school didn't teach me how to become an artist. It taught me discipline."

The art came later. Years of observing. Experimenting. Failing. Creating. Long after the classroom was gone.

Today his work spans illustration, AI, visual storytelling, and creative direction — always exploring identity, philosophy, imperfection, and the human experience.

Loyal to ideas, not tools

Like many artists, his journey started with pencils and paper. Then came Wacom tablets. Desktop software. Today, much of his work is created on an iPad.

But the tools have never been the important part.

"I've never been loyal to tools. I've always been loyal to ideas."

Technology changes. Ideas remain.

Why he creates

There was not one defining moment that made him become an artist. Art simply stayed with him.

"No matter how busy work became or where life took me, I always returned to creating."

Eventually he realised something deeper.

"Art wasn't just something I enjoyed. It became the way I process life."

For him, creating is not simply producing images. It is how he asks questions. It is how he understands the world.

Discovering Web3

Like many creators, Instalustraitor entered Web3 through curiosity. He wanted to understand what digital ownership could mean for artists.

But technology was not what convinced him to stay. People were.

"The technology caught my attention, but it was the community that convinced me to stay."

For the first time, digital artwork could carry ownership, provenance, and permanence. More importantly, artists and collectors could build relationships around creativity rather than simply transactions. That cultural shift mattered far more than speculation ever did.

Only after understanding what he wants to communicate does he begin collecting references, writing ideas, and studying composition. Every element must serve the same purpose.

His workflow includes traditional illustration, digital painting, and AI. But he makes one thing very clear.

"AI is part of my workflow, not the author of my work."

"If the idea isn't honest, no amount of technical perfection can save the artwork."

Inspiration is everywhere

His inspiration does not come from one place. It comes from life. Traditional Javanese values. Street culture. Motorcycles. Travel. Music. Comics. Philosophy. Collectible toys. Conversations with strangers. Even failure.

"I'm also drawn to failure and imperfection because they reveal something polished work often hides."

For him, art begins long before the pencil touches the page.

"The ideas I carry usually come from life first. Art is simply the language I use to translate them."

Curiosity never sleeps

Markets rise. Markets fall. That does not change why he creates.

"Markets move in cycles. Curiosity doesn't."

His motivation has never depended on market conditions.

"I create because making art is how I understand myself."

If the market disappeared tomorrow, he would still be creating.

Advice for new artists

His advice is not about algorithms. Or followers. Or sales. It is about finding your voice.

"Build your voice before you build your audience."

Technology changes. Platforms change. Markets change. Your perspective is the one thing nobody else can replicate.

"Don't chase trends or quick sales."

Instead — create work people recognise before they ever see your signature. And above all:

"Create work that inspires more creativity."

Building a universe

Right now, Instalustraitor is not thinking about individual illustrations. He is building something bigger.

"I'm building a visual universe rather than simply releasing individual illustrations."

His vision blends illustration, AI, storytelling, animation, and physical collectibles into one connected world. Because to him, an artwork does not end when it is finished. It becomes a character. An object. A story. Or inspiration for someone else's next idea.

The artist behind the work

Coffee? Not just coffee. Aceh Gayo. Medium roast. Mud coffee. Always.

Favourite time to create? Whenever inspiration finds him.

"Creativity doesn't follow a schedule. It follows space."

Sometimes it is during a quiet coffee. Sometimes after a motorcycle ride. Sometimes just before bed. Ideas arrive when the noise disappears.

Asked which artwork is his favourite, he smiled.

"The next one."

Every completed piece represents who he was. The next one represents who he is becoming.
