What makes Physical Art + COA different
Each physical artwork receives a unique Certificate of Authenticity (COA) and a D.O.O.D. Certificate™ — a Digital Origin & Ownership Document — recorded on the XRP Ledger. The certificate becomes the permanent digital record connected to the physical piece, while the shipping workflow is handled privately through Vault.
A collector who buys a Physical Art + COA piece receives:
- The original physical artwork
- A digital version of the artwork

- A D.O.O.D. Certificate™ NFT

- Vault fulfillment tracking
The goal was simple: prove that a creator can sell a real physical piece, deliver a digital version and COA NFT, manage shipping through Vault, and preserve the collector’s privacy after the order is complete.
The full workflow at a glance
Seven stages carry a physical piece from the artist’s studio to a confirmed delivery.
- Mint Physical Art — the artist creates a physical artwork listing with COA traits, certificate ID, digital artwork, and collection/taxon data.
- List for Sale — the piece is listed with XRPL Home Instant Checkout and clearly marked Physical Art + COA / Ships Original Artwork.
- Collector Purchases — the sale is recorded, the digital artwork transfers, the COA NFT transfers, and a physical fulfillment order is created.
- Buyer Adds Address — the buyer submits shipping info in Vault. The address is not written to NFT metadata or the blockchain.
- Seller Ships — the seller views the address, marks preparing, adds carrier and tracking, and marks shipped and delivered.
- Buyer Confirms — the buyer tracks the shipment, receives the artwork, and clicks Confirm Received.
- Privacy Cleanup — the shipping address is removed or redacted after delivery confirmation, while COA, tracking and order history remain.
Minting and listing physical art
- Mint the piece as Physical Art + COA
During minting, the artwork receives a physical artwork record, a digital artwork version, Certificate of Authenticity data, a D.O.O.D. Certificate™ NFT, collection and taxon assignment, and ownership verification metadata. The artwork stays part of its existing collection while gaining physical fulfillment capabilities.
- List it with Instant Checkout
The artist lists the artwork using XRPL Home Instant Checkout. The listing clearly identifies Physical Art + COA and Ships Original Artwork, so collectors know they are purchasing a real-world item backed by an authenticated digital record.
- The collector purchases
When the collector buys the piece, the sale is recorded, the digital artwork transfers to the collector, the COA NFT transfers to the collector, and a physical fulfillment order is created. Buyer and seller both gain access to Physical Art & COA inside Vault.
Shipping and tracking through Vault
From this point the work happens inside Vault, where the buyer and the seller each see their own side of the same order.
The buyer submits shipping information
Inside Vault → Physical Art & COA → My Physical Orders, the buyer submits shipping information securely. The address is never written to the blockchain and is only shared for fulfillment purposes.
The seller fulfills the order
Inside Vault → Physical Art & COA → My Physical Sales, the seller can view the shipping address, mark the order as preparing, add the carrier, add tracking, mark it shipped, and mark it delivered. All fulfillment activity is recorded inside Vault.
The buyer tracks the shipment
As the seller updates the order, the buyer can follow fulfillment status, carrier, tracking number and shipment progress directly from Vault. No email chains, no guessing.
The buyer confirms delivery
When the artwork arrives, the buyer clicks Confirm Received and the order is completed. The COA remains, the NFT remains, ownership verification remains, and the fulfillment record remains.
The status flow across the whole order reads: Address Needed → Address Submitted → Preparing Shipment → Shipped → Delivered → Received Confirmed.
Privacy cleanup after delivery
After delivery confirmation, shipping addresses are removed or redacted. Tracking history, COA records, ownership records and order events remain. Collector privacy is protected without losing provenance.
This is the part that is easy to overlook and hard to retrofit. A physical sale needs an address for a few days, not forever. The permanent record keeps what proves the piece is real, and drops what only ever existed to get a parcel to a door.
Verify the COA anytime
Buyers and sellers can verify authenticity at any time inside Vault → Physical Art & COA → Verify COA. Verification can use either the Certificate ID or the NFT Token ID.
There is also a dedicated verify page at xrplhome.io/verify.html, which anyone can use — including someone who is only considering a purchase. Verification confirms collection, issuer, ownership, token ID, and XRP Ledger authenticity. Use the full NFT Token ID when verifying directly on XRPL.
