When you mint a physical piece on XRPL Home there are two paths: a standard mint, and a Reveal Mint™. With a Reveal Mint™, the artwork stays hidden behind a teaser image until the physical item has been confirmed — at which point the piece is revealed to its owner on screen, and the image, metadata and traits all update.
Underneath it sits a Living COA™: an NFT that is not simply proof of ownership, but the permanent digital record of the collectible’s entire history. This page covers both halves — the practical walkthrough for artists, then the full sixteen-phase lifecycle reference.
You need a connected XRPL wallet, the physical piece in hand, a teaser image (or use the default), and the real artwork file that will be revealed. Have your authentication details ready — you will enter them when you generate the COA.
What a Reveal Mint™ actually is
A Reveal Mint™ is an authenticated physical collectible paired with a Living COA™ NFT. Rather than immediately revealing the artwork, collectors receive an authenticated Reveal Mint™ that evolves throughout ownership — through creation, authentication, sale, fulfillment, reveal, resale and long-term legacy.
The founder writes the story. The NFT remembers the story. That is the Living COA™.
Artist walkthrough: creating a Reveal Mint™
- Choose your mint type
Start the mint for a physical piece and pick Reveal Mint™ rather than the standard path.

Choose your mint type: standard, or Reveal Mint™. - Select your teaser image
This is what collectors see while the piece is locked. Use the default teaser, or upload your own.

Select your teaser image — use the default, or load your own. - Add the artwork to be revealed
Upload the real artwork the collector will receive when the reveal unlocks. It is never exposed in metadata before then.

Add the actual artwork to be received. - Add your data and generate the COA
Enter the authentication and provenance details for the piece, then generate the Certificate of Authenticity.

Add your data and generate the COA. - Choose delivery and reveal method
Pick how the reveal unlocks. Manual Reveal is useful for live testing; Delivery Confirmed is the recommended default. Under Advanced Reveal Settings you will also find Claim Code and Delivery + NFC.

Select the delivery and reveal method for the piece. - Review the details and preview the reveal
Check everything, and preview what the collector will see when the piece unlocks.

Review the details and preview the reveal. - Confirm and authenticate
Confirm the mint to authenticate the piece, then scan the QR code to sign the transaction in your wallet.

Confirm and authenticate, then scan the QR code to sign.
Once the mint goes through, you land on the completed piece.

What the piece looks like while it stays locked
On the collection page, the new piece appears with its teaser image and its status badges.

Open the piece itself and the trait information is hidden.

This authenticated physical collectible remains locked until the reveal is unlocked. The artwork, the Living COA™, provenance and verification all become available automatically after the reveal.
Listing and selling a Reveal Mint™
Include the cost of shipping in your list price. There is no separate shipping charge collected at checkout — what you list is what the collector pays.
Here is the same piece from the collector’s side of the glass.

After purchase, the piece appears in the collector’s Vault, where fulfillment begins.

Once the address is entered, the buyer clicks confirm and the address is released to the seller.

The seller reviews the address, adds the carrier and tracking information, and marks the order as shipped.

Delivery, confirmation and the reveal
The buyer can now see that the piece has shipped, along with the tracking information.

When the parcel arrives, the buyer confirms they received the item.

And then — the moment the whole flow is built around — the buyer can open the reveal.

Once revealed, Ember sends the collector an update.

From that point the listing updates to the revealed image, and so do all the metadata and traits. The teaser is gone; the piece is itself.
The full Reveal Mint™ lifecycle: sixteen phases
The walkthrough above is what you touch. Below is everything the system records around it, from the artist’s initial collection setup to the long-term legacy record the NFT preserves for future owners.
- Artist creates the collection
The artist creates a Reveal Mint™ collection inside XRPL Home and, for each piece, defines the collection, edition or 1/1, physical authentication, reveal artwork, reveal method, Living COA™, fulfillment rules, shipping options, authentication information and provenance data. At this stage the artwork remains hidden — only the teaser image is visible to collectors.
- Authentication
Each physical piece is authenticated before release. XRPL Home generates the Reveal Mint™ NFT, the Living COA™, a verification record, a Mystery ID, a Certificate ID and a provenance record. The NFT then receives status badges, which may include Authenticated Physical, Reveal Locked, Genesis Reveal Mint™ where applicable, and XRPL Verified. The hidden artwork is never exposed in metadata at this or any prior stage.
- Listing
Once authenticated, the NFT can be listed natively on XRPL Home. Listings include XRPL Home Checkout, platform fee, creator rewards, the Living COA™, Vault fulfillment and the reveal experience, so collectors can see exactly what is included before purchase.
- Purchase
Collectors may purchase with XRP, $DOOD, or supported checkout methods. Before completing the transaction, XRPL Home validates the active listing, authenticity, marketplace routing, platform fee, creator royalty and the live XRPL offer.
- Broker settlement
For Instant Checkout, the buyer signs an NFTokenCreateOffer and the XRPL Home Broker performs an NFTokenAcceptOffer to complete settlement. The NFT transfers to the buyer, the listing status becomes Sold, and a permanent checkout audit is created.
- Physical order created
Immediately after settlement, XRPL Home creates a secure fulfillment order recording the order ID, listing, collection, NFT, Mystery ID, Certificate ID, buyer, seller, purchase price, fee breakdown, checkout audit and fulfillment status. This becomes the permanent fulfillment record for the piece.
- Buyer submits shipping
Inside Vault → My Physical Orders, the collector submits name, address, city, province or state, postal code and country, with email and phone as optional fields. Shipping data is encrypted and is never written to NFT metadata or the blockchain.
- Seller fulfillment
The seller receives an Address Submitted notification. Inside My Physical Sales they can view the buyer wallet, shipping address, order, purchase and NFT, then enter the carrier and tracking number. Supported carriers include USPS, UPS, FedEx and DHL.
- Shipment tracking
Both the collector and the artist can monitor progress. The order status moves through Purchased, Address Needed, Address Submitted, Preparing Shipment, Shipped, Delivered and Received Confirmed, and every update is stored in the fulfillment record.
- Address privacy
Shipping information remains visible only while it is required. Once delivery is confirmed it disappears from normal views, and only the buyer, seller and administrator (for audit purposes) can access archived records. The Living COA™ never contains personal information.
- Reveal ready
Once fulfillment conditions are met, the Reveal Mint™ status becomes Reveal Ready. Depending on collection rules, the reveal may occur immediately after delivery, manually by the collector, on artist approval, on event unlock, or on scheduled release.
- Artwork reveal
The collector unlocks the artwork and the NFT transforms: its status moves from Reveal Locked to Revealed, the teaser image is replaced by the authenticated artwork, and the Living COA™ updates automatically.
- Living COA™
The certificate now displays artist, collection, edition, authentication, XRPL token, owner, reveal date, provenance, verification, fulfillment completed and marketplace history. Unlike a traditional certificate, the Living COA™ continues evolving throughout the collectible’s life.
- Verification
Anyone can verify the collectible through XRPL Home. Verification confirms authenticity, artist, collection, token ID, certificate, ownership, reveal status, provenance and XRPL verification. No private shipping information is ever exposed during verification.
- Secondary sales
If the piece is resold, the Living COA™ remains with the NFT. Ownership updates, but the history is preserved — nothing is lost. The next collector inherits the fully authenticated history of the piece.
- Legacy
Years later, the NFT tells the complete story. Not just “I own this,” but a full record of who created it, when it was authenticated, when it was sold, when it was revealed, every owner, every verified transfer, every milestone, every exhibition, every achievement, and every piece of its provenance.
Why Reveal Mint™ is different
Reveal Mint™ is not simply a hidden NFT. It combines several capabilities into one connected experience: authenticated physical artwork, a hidden reveal experience, the Living COA™, native XRPL Home checkout, secure Vault fulfillment, shipping tracking, authenticity verification, secondary market support, permanent provenance, and a living digital record that grows throughout the artwork’s lifetime.
Every stage — creation, authentication, purchase, fulfillment, reveal, resale, legacy — is connected through XRPL Home. The physical artwork, the Living COA™ and the NFT become one evolving record, preserving not just ownership but the complete history of the piece.
If you are minting a physical piece without the hidden reveal, the Physical Art + COA lifecycle covers the standard path. For files rather than objects, see the digital art minting guide. And when you are ready to start, head to Create.
